Caren Nancy Ajwang is a consultant in Corporate Governance and has had a measurable impact on the development of businesses and organizations towards proper management and internal controls and processes. Caren thrives on challenge and is an innovator and change driver. Her expertise helps individuals, companies and organisations deliver on the promise of their ideas, while strengthening strategic linkage with partners and stakeholders.

Caren has more than 20 years of comprehensive experience driving sustainable growth in community development, programme management and creative industry. With a deep understanding of resource mobilization strategies and monitoring & evaluation function, she knows how to proactively identify funding opportunities through donor intelligence gathering, develop and strengthen partnership, formulate an advocacy and communication strategy, and improve partners’ reporting systems as well as monitoring progress of implementation process. Yet she also understands donor-funding realities and has repeatedly put in place the disciplined processes, metrics, and validity testing for new ideas that ensure that projects are a ‘good risk’ for the donor. She is highly experienced at managing complex and integrated grants projects and delivering value through technology and innovation.

Currently, Caren is sitting in the management board of Ummah Initiative Group (UIG) CBO, Coast Women for Women (CWW) CBO, Sheilah Sheidone Art for Social Change (SSASC) CBO, and Maskon Enterprises Limited, and has established robust methodologies for idea generation and concept development as well as applying experience and expertise gained from her previous employment in an International Child Rights Organisation where she prudently managed various programmes funded by EU, DFATD, USAID, JICA, DANIDA, MFA, NORAD, SIDA, GiZ, and UKAID, as well as successfully facilitated the mobilization of resources from group and individual sponsors at national, regional and international levels in promoting child rights to end child poverty for Nyanza and Coastal regions. Her most recent initiative is a 5-year DFATD Canada Grant Project: “Tulinde Tusome” awarded to Plan International in Kwale and Kilifi, Kenya with cumulative budget of CAD.10,272,292.

Caren is a Certified Programme Management Professional, a Child Rights and Gender Equality Advocate, an Advocacy and Governance Specialist, and a Freelance Creative Writer. As the founder of her creative business – Techinva Kenya Limited, Caren has initiated a disciplined and reliable freelance and virtual assistant agency that supports in developing businesses and organisations through writing grants and proposals as well as business and strategic plans, facilitating winning resumes/CVs and interview preparedness for career progression, and coaching in academic and creative writing. She also engages in gigs for content development and article writing, document review and analysis, proofreading and editing, and training/facilitation in community development and capacity building.
